ROOM

A Sketchbook for Analytic Action

2017–2021

Between 2017 and 2021, I served as Creative Director for ROOM: A Sketchbook for Analytic Action, a community platform connecting psychoanalysis, politics, and culture through an analytic lens. Conceived in collaboration with members of the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR), ROOM was envisioned as a multidimensional space for analysts, writers, and artists to reflect on how social and political realities shape psychic life.

Founded in 2017, ROOM emerged from the desire to expand psychoanalytic dialogue beyond the consulting room—transforming private reflection into collective discourse. The project aimed to build an open platform where psychoanalytic thinking could intersect with art, activism, and public life.

As Creative Director, I guided the platform’s conceptual and creative evolution—from its editorial framework and identity system to its digital design, print editions, and outreach strategy. My work focused on creating a structure capable of sustaining interdisciplinary collaboration while preserving the rigor and sensitivity of the analytic process.

Challenge

The main challenge was translating the intimacy of psychoanalytic discourse—traditionally confined to private settings—into a public-facing platform that could host diverse voices and perspectives. The project required a conceptual framework capable of balancing intellectual depth with accessibility while fostering meaningful cross-disciplinary dialogue.

Solution

I developed a flexible and layered design system that integrated visual art, writing, and editorial content into a unified experience. The platform became a hybrid environment for essays, poetry, art, and critical reflection. My role encompassed strategic guidance, art direction, design, and project management, ensuring visual and conceptual coherence across all outputs—digital, print, and live events.
